First American state to sign online gambling bill – Nevada!

Nevada

On the 21st of February 2013, the state of Nevada became the first in the United States to legalize interstate online poker and allow state-to-state gaming agreements. The state of Nevada has been fighting to become the first especially beating New Jersey, even if only by a week. Nevada who already is home to Las Vegas, one of the worlds leading gambling centrals, want to pioneer the national Internet wagering efforts.

The new bill that was signed, removes a provision requiring federal legislation or Department of Justice approval before online gaming licenses are made active. The bill is seen as a critical measure to ensure the state’s economy making sure that the state will continue to set the example for gaming regulation. As of now there are a handful of companies that are licensed and operational within the state, but with the new legislation the quantities are expected to grow exponentially over the next short period of time.

Many are hopeful that the Nevada and New Jersey legislation is just the beginning of what is to come, namely the opening of a massive new online market. We will be watching in anticipation. For more information on the topic visit the links below.

2013snake

2013

A new year is upon us, and with it exciting new beginnings. We at Fortune Affiliates thank you all for making 2012 a fantastic year, and look forward to sharing an equally exiting 2013 with you.

According to the Chinese zodiac year, which is a systematic 12- year mathematical cycle that consists of equating each year to an animal and its reputed attributes, 2013 is the year of the snake.

The snake is known for being a cautious, low-key calm and shy animal that only attacks when disturbed. It is also, however, known for being sneaky and very seductive by nature, with the ability to asses complicated situations quickly, to which it responds collected and controlled – traits that are opportune in the business world.

Whether or not the Chinese zodiac predictions for 2013 are correct or not only time can tell. We at Fortune Affiliates, however, know that we have some exciting new developments which we are looking forward to revealing soon.

Generation Mobile!

Ever since mobile gambling became possible many years ago, we have heard about how explosive this would be. However, unreliable networks and expensive data plans put a damper on realizing the expected potential growth rates developers were hoping for. Good news however, recent studies now show that the current trend of mobile gambling is predicted to grow at a rapid rate, making mobile apps the predominant catalyst for gamblers across the globe.

The reason for the expected upcoming rapid growth within the mobile casino sector has to do with developers pushing mobile gambling apps for Apple iOS and Android smartphones, but also upgrades to applications and operating systems, such as the recent addition of a number of languages, as well as more generous data plans.

A predominant increase has already been detected in the download rate of apps in the gaming genre, this has happened across the board with similar reporting’s from all the big casino companies. These reporting’s are directly supported by studies published by the diagnostics team at Juniper Research in May, in which they conclude that mobile gambling netted $20 billion in revenue in 2011, and is probable 5 double this in the course of the next 5 years.

Mobile Casino’s and mobile gambling is here to stay and is only a matter of time before it becomes the predominant method of wagering. Do you have the right Social Media Strategy?

Pro’s and cons of using facebook as an exposure tool

When considering what social media to use as a player acquisition tool the obvious first choice seems to be Facebook. Since Facebook debuted to the public in 2006, it has amassed approximately 908,000,000+ registered users. Its collective user database alone is part of what makes it an optimal tool for brand exposure and customer relations.

However, Facebook does have its shortcomings, such as not being very SEO friendly. Apart from that Facebook is also very much for friends and people that you know, which makes it less applicable for promoting your websites or casinos. Another thing to keep in mind when embarking on mixing your own business and social media together, is that the customer is fully aware that they have a voice, and if they are unsatisfied or annoyed then they will not hesitate to let you know, and if not managed correctly this can be truly damaging to your reputation.

Therefor when embarking on a social media strategy there are several things to take into account beforehand. Such as:

1. Why do you want to use Facebook?

2. What do you plan on doing with it? Is it just for the purpose of having a page?

3. Will you be combining your efforts on Facebook with other social media?

4. Do you really understand what social media and Facebook are all about?

The main point with Facebook and all social media is of course to be social and interactive, and there are lots of ways to utilize this to your advantage. Such as location based marketing, where you use peoples check-ins to engage them.  Chat to people, engage them, give yourself a personality, and make two-way conversations rather than just posting messages. Most importantly use the network the way people expect it to be used – we all have private Facebook’s.

Call Centers Advice to Affiliates

Any good businessman will tell you that an important step on the way to success is to know the customer and their needs. The call center knows the customer in the online casino world better than anyone else. They interact with thousands of them on a daily basis. Therefor I’ve asked some of the seniors in out call center what advice they might want to pass on to affiliates, and it is as bellow.

First off, giving players’ clear information and steps on how to collect offers is paramount to retaining and growing key players. Gareth Dodds, Floor Manager at Fortune Affiliates  Call Center adds, “One thing that we experience a lot with new players at that conversion point, is that they will convert and we will get a deposit out of them, but because of unclear information – they will come back angry – they deposited expecting XYZ , they didn’t receive it. When you then look at the website they came off of, it’s an old offer, or the information wasn’t clearly structured, it then becomes very hard to retain that person. Because even if we tell them the correct offer and this is what is right, at the end of the call you can almost guarantee that person is not coming back. So that initial conversion stage is where we actually have to be crystal clear, because we lose that player the moment he feels that we haven’t provided him, that we haven’t been upfront – especially European players- poof they are gone. They need to be given clarity on all aspects, and how to claim the offer. For example if the affiliate has a deal that needs to be claimed by RMM (rich media message), have them say, when the player signs up, here are the steps to follow, let them know upfront, because now the player does this, they sign up and they don’t know where to go from there.

Second, affiliates must make sure that their sites are well-run at all times, and offers are updated. As Gareth says, “They can drive all the traffic in the world to us with the incorrect info, but they are not going to get anything out of it if the players aren’t converting, because they leave as soon as they feel they have been misinformed. The promotions always have to be 100% correct, if we change our sign up offer, the affiliates need to change their banner tag to reflect it.”

Ultimately, the Call Center advises all affiliates to try giving them a call. One of the best tricks to selling a product is to understand the customer and customer experience, and what better way to understand this process than trying it first-hand.

What makes the Call Center Efficient?

The call center has different tools at their disposal, for example, all Microgaming licensees have a system called PCM available to them.

Player Communications Manager (PCM)

The PCM system provides the call center with a number of different services, such as the ability to monitor players live, allowing them to proactively assist players through a chat function. This is especially helpful during registration and banking process, where chats for help can be initiated by both operator and player. On average, the call center handles 11,500 chats per month.

As Robert Menezes Floor Manager in the Fortune Affiliates Call Center says, “Our belief is that if players enjoy themselves, play with us, and win with us – then they are going to stay with us. But if they come through and are having purchasing problems, then straight away they are going to want to go to another casino. That’s why we have a system that notifies us if a person is having trouble in the banking area, having  purchasing problems, can’t register a credit card, so that we can push a chat to them, asking if they are having problems, how we can help, and offering assistance. There are banking specialists whom are a lot savvier with regards to banking rejection codes, nine out of ten times the person registered the incorrect expiry date by a month, or the wrong year, and that’s why the purchase isn’t going through. We try to make the process as easy as possible, you don’t want players to come through and have a clumsy experience. It has got to be easy and flow, and that’s what support is there to do, to make sure that everything is seamless so that the players can enjoy themselves, and no be stuck with problems.”

Other Call Center Tools

“We have a reporting service where we drop the callers email address into and get a customer profile, which tells us all the offers that are available to them, what offer they came in on, as well as what we additionally can offer them. Has the player been winning or is he actually losing his shirt with us – at the end of the day a losing player is a player that we are not going to have for a very long time. That’s why we want our players to win, we want them to cash in, we want everything to go well, because if it does, then they are going to come back to play with us.”

In other words, this system allows for an in-depth analyses on an individual bases, to ensure not only good player experience, but also feasibility for both the casino and the affiliate. The call center however, should not look at affiliates or players that come through on calls as numbers, that would make the casino come off as generic focusing only on the bottom line numbers, as Robert Menezes Floor Manager in the Fortune Affiliates Call Center puts it, “At the end of the day the call center sells entertainment, it’s not selling the purchase.”

The call center does have an up-selling element to it, which works to the benefit of affiliates. “A lot of the time when we are offering a bonuses, at least 70 -80% of the time, it is dependent on the player depositing more than they were originally planning to, so there is an income increase aspect there for the affiliates. Generating that additional income and that revenue benefits the affiliate as well as us.”

The call center is also the first to be informed if there are updates or downtime, so that they can fill queries from players, and keep them happy. As Online Casinos are software based companies there is inevitably going to be some down time now and again to ensure the software is the best that it can be. The Call Center makes sure to comfort frustrated callers with the fact that, “Downtime always comes with some improvement to them, they are going to have better games, sounds, better graphics, so we sell the downtime.”
