First American state to sign online gambling bill – Nevada!

Nevada

On the 21st of February 2013, the state of Nevada became the first in the United States to legalize interstate online poker and allow state-to-state gaming agreements. The state of Nevada has been fighting to become the first especially beating New Jersey, even if only by a week. Nevada who already is home to Las Vegas, one of the worlds leading gambling centrals, want to pioneer the national Internet wagering efforts.

The new bill that was signed, removes a provision requiring federal legislation or Department of Justice approval before online gaming licenses are made active. The bill is seen as a critical measure to ensure the state’s economy making sure that the state will continue to set the example for gaming regulation. As of now there are a handful of companies that are licensed and operational within the state, but with the new legislation the quantities are expected to grow exponentially over the next short period of time.

Many are hopeful that the Nevada and New Jersey legislation is just the beginning of what is to come, namely the opening of a massive new online market. We will be watching in anticipation. For more information on the topic visit the links below.

European Markets to Watch in 2013

Uk online gambling leader

2012 has just come to an end, with a clear leader in terms of global online gambling industry value. Europe accounted for 47.6% of the global industry value, followed by Asia- Pacific at a 26.7%, closely followed by the Americas at 22.8%.  However, within Europe there is also a clear leader, namely the United Kingdom.

Having been one of the first countries to establish themselves as a legal online gambling environment the UK has set the standards in terms of online gambling market growth for a while and have reaped many benefits. In 2009 5.6% of the adult population had participated in online gambling, but by 2010 this figure had risen to 32%. Apart from benefits like being one of the largest online gambling markets in the world today, consumers have also benefited from safer online gambling environment, and a highly competitive online market place.

It will be interesting to see if the UK can remain at the forefront despite their governments’ recent proposal to tighten regulation on the online gambling market, and also to see the outcome of the EU parliaments strive for a more harmonious regulation across all member nations.

All reports point toward a general growth in the online gambling industry in years to come, some suggest that within Europe – Italy, France and Spain are the candidates to give the UK a run for their money in their leading position.  So keep your eye out for these markets, and let us know how we can assist you with your marketing!

Generation Mobile!

Ever since mobile gambling became possible many years ago, we have heard about how explosive this would be. However, unreliable networks and expensive data plans put a damper on realizing the expected potential growth rates developers were hoping for. Good news however, recent studies now show that the current trend of mobile gambling is predicted to grow at a rapid rate, making mobile apps the predominant catalyst for gamblers across the globe.

The reason for the expected upcoming rapid growth within the mobile casino sector has to do with developers pushing mobile gambling apps for Apple iOS and Android smartphones, but also upgrades to applications and operating systems, such as the recent addition of a number of languages, as well as more generous data plans.

A predominant increase has already been detected in the download rate of apps in the gaming genre, this has happened across the board with similar reporting’s from all the big casino companies. These reporting’s are directly supported by studies published by the diagnostics team at Juniper Research in May, in which they conclude that mobile gambling netted $20 billion in revenue in 2011, and is probable 5 double this in the course of the next 5 years.

Mobile Casino’s and mobile gambling is here to stay and is only a matter of time before it becomes the predominant method of wagering. Therefor we here at Fortune Affiliates have extended our current Affiliate mobile promotion, where you stand a chance to win a Google Nexus 7 tablet and earn an extra CPA on all mobile acquisitions.

Call Centers Advice to Affiliates

Any good businessman will tell you that an important step on the way to success is to know the customer and their needs. The call center knows the customer in the online casino world better than anyone else. They interact with thousands of them on a daily basis. Therefor I’ve asked some of the seniors in out call center what advice they might want to pass on to affiliates, and it is as bellow.

First off, giving players’ clear information and steps on how to collect offers is paramount to retaining and growing key players. Gareth Dodds, Floor Manager at Fortune Affiliates  Call Center adds, “One thing that we experience a lot with new players at that conversion point, is that they will convert and we will get a deposit out of them, but because of unclear information – they will come back angry – they deposited expecting XYZ , they didn’t receive it. When you then look at the website they came off of, it’s an old offer, or the information wasn’t clearly structured, it then becomes very hard to retain that person. Because even if we tell them the correct offer and this is what is right, at the end of the call you can almost guarantee that person is not coming back. So that initial conversion stage is where we actually have to be crystal clear, because we lose that player the moment he feels that we haven’t provided him, that we haven’t been upfront – especially European players- poof they are gone. They need to be given clarity on all aspects, and how to claim the offer. For example if the affiliate has a deal that needs to be claimed by RMM (rich media message), have them say, when the player signs up, here are the steps to follow, let them know upfront, because now the player does this, they sign up and they don’t know where to go from there.

Second, affiliates must make sure that their sites are well-run at all times, and offers are updated. As Gareth says, “They can drive all the traffic in the world to us with the incorrect info, but they are not going to get anything out of it if the players aren’t converting, because they leave as soon as they feel they have been misinformed. The promotions always have to be 100% correct, if we change our sign up offer, the affiliates need to change their banner tag to reflect it.”

Ultimately, the Call Center advises all affiliates to try giving them a call. One of the best tricks to selling a product is to understand the customer and customer experience, and what better way to understand this process than trying it first-hand.

What do the experts have to say about Augmented Reality?

What do the experts have to say about AR?

Upon researching augmented reality, I interviewed Greg Burckard, Fortune Affiliates Mobile Business Development Manager, to find out just how within our grasp this new technology is, and how we may apply it to affiliates.  The questions and answers were as follows.

-      Do you think AR is a fad or a marketing mechanism that is here to stay?

It is an out the box form of marketing, I think it will be effective and is here to stay, but it must be used alongside the standard marketing mechanisms for that full circle marketing strategy. At the moment it is fairly limited, as the user must download certain apps. Until it gets integrated properly with the phones cameras it will continue to be an innovative tactic. However, if it becomes part of a phones Operating system and utilizes standard camera, the reach will increase as the audience will become immediately targetable.”

-      How will AR be applicable to online casinos?

I see it being applied to all services, and it can be used through all mediums (print, TV, Web and Mobile) so that users can have full 360 gaming/gambling experiences.

New users can be engaged through a new medium with offline to online incentives, for example; a novice user with limited mobile or internet knowledge can easily interact with new media and content. More importantly, one can entice previously offline land based players to enter the online realm through marketing of special bonus codes that can be unlocked. Ultimately, one can essentially also ’force’ web users to enter the mobile space. Augmented reality is new and fascinating to most and gaming and gambling services will be able to push competitions and promos through augmented reality, which is a fresh and exciting medium.”

-      What is the time frame?

Depending on what strategy gets used, content designed-for the visual augmented campaign and what gets offered or tied into it, AR for Online Casinos can be rolled out now.

 What can YOU do

I would love to hear back from you guys if you have any ideas, on AR campaigns that could be done in the iGaming arena. Take a look at the two campaigns bellow, where a comic becomes interactive and 3D, or where paranormal activity is brought to a new level.

Bingo Boom- the latest UK craze

The Bingo boom in the UK

Bingo has been ever popular on the British high streets for years, translating into an online arena that seems infinite with possibilities.

This is aided greatly by lenient legislation as well as the smoking ban which drove people away from bingo halls into the comfort of their own homes- making bingo an online sensation.

Over the past four years online bingo popularity has grown and trends shows that the bingo industry turned over GBP 300 Million in revenue from over 400 000 online players. This might be aided by the stigma associated to bingo as being harmless and not entirely classified as online gambling. Bingo is seen more as a social activity and the negative association towards gambling in Britain has also declined with the introduction of the National Lottery.

Fortune Affiliates Bingo

When looking at trends associated with bingo players, even though the internet market is relatively new, players like to stick with what they know and usually just stay faithful to one or two rooms .Even if this ought to make it difficult for new operators to get share of the market there nevertheless seems to be space with regard to entrants. About 50 % of online bingo players showed a propensity to change their brand of preference based on specific promotions as well as reactivation campaigns.

As an affiliate it has never been easier to piggy back on the success of this UK market. Here at Fortune Affiliates we have 3 reputable and popular brands that are converting very well in the UK, namely Giggle Bingo, Back2School Bingo and the new addition to our Fortune Family True Blue Bingo. Even though True Blue Bingo has an authentic Australian look and feel it doesn’t isolate avid UK bingo players. The fantastic thing about these brands is that they appeal to a wide range of players making it easier to market, convert and ultimately make YOU money.
